چکیده
Background: Parsonage-Turner syndrome (PTS) is an underdiagnosed disorder characterized by the acute onset of severe pain in shoulder/scapula/arm followed muscle weakness/numbness distribution nerves derived from brachial plexus (BP). Surgical procedures are one several antecedent events PTS. This study describes clinical spectrum postsurgical (PSPTS) a large cohort patients. Materials and methods: Charts patients diagnosed with PTS during 16-year (2006-2022) retrospective review were analyzed to identify cases PSPTS. The criteria for PSPTS included new two days four weeks after surgical procedure weakness muscles innervated or more arising BP. EDX consist denervation localized branches subdivided into categories: definite (surgery at remote site) probable ipsilateral upper extremity cervical spine). Results: Of 202 (204 episodes) PTS, 111 (54%) idiopathic 61 (30%) episodes, 26 35 anterior interosseous nerve (AIN) was most affected, posterior (PIN), suprascapular nerve. Conclusion: In this series, surgery commonly recognized event AIN PIN frequent affected. Surgeons should consider who develop postoperative shoulder

Postsurgical Parsonage-Turner syndrome: a challenging diagnosis.
Parsonage-Turner syndrome (PTS) is a distinct clinical syndrome, characterized by acute and severe (mostly) unilateral shoulder pain, followed by paresis and atrophy of the shoulder girdle, while the pain decreases. Most authors consider it as an immune-mediated disorder. PTS is notoriously unrecognised and is usually diagnosed with delay. A PTS may also occur following a surgical procedure. Po...

We report the case of an 86-year-old man with acute left shoulder pain, followed by left limb monoparesis and a herpetic rash on the left upper limb and thoracic region. This situation presented a diagnostic challenge because of the simultaneity of symptoms attributable to Parsonage-Turner syndrome and herpes zoster neuropathy. A detailed clinical history, physical examination and electroneurom...
